Hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans have fled the country’s economic conditions and repression in recent years.

The White House's ending of a temporary immigration program that protects migrants in the U.S. could spell deportation for more than 300,000 Venezuelans who were previously allowed in the U.S. under Temporary Protected Status.

The Department of Homeland Security announced Monday it would end a program giving Venezuelan migrants special status.
