Farmers in Punjab have called for a "Rail Roko" protest on December 18 after their failed attempts to enter Delhi. The police had stopped the farmers' march into the national capital thrice—on December 6, 8, and 14. During the last attempt, law enforcement agencies used tear gas and water cannons, injuring 17 farmers.

Several Haryana leaders, including Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secretary-general and former Leader of Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala visited Dallewal at the Khanauri border on Monday, accompanied by INLD state president Rampal Majra and Dabwali MLA Aditya Devilal.

Extending support to the protesting farmers at Shambhu border in Punjab, members of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (a non-political entity) of Madurai zone staged a protest outside railway junction here on Monday.

Chandigarh: A 'jatha' of 101 farmers will resume their foot march to Delhi at 12 noon on Saturday from the Shambhu border point to press the Centre for various demands including a legal guarantee for minimum support price. Meanwhile, the Haryana government suspended mobile internet and bulk SMS services in 12 villages in Ambala till December 17.

The announcement came hours after a 'Jathha' of 101 farmers, blocked by the police at the Shambhu border due to security concerns, was withdrawn for the day.
