The suspect allegedly forced his way into a home while armed with a knife to kidnap his 4-year-old daughter, who he is legally prohibited from contacting.

A Des Moines man armed with a large knife allegedly broke into a home Sunday and kidnapped his daughter. Duane VanDenHemel, 36, of Des Moines, is legally prohibited from having contact with the 4-year-old girl, according to a news release from the Des Moines Police Department.

Des Moines police asked the public on Monday to be on the lookout for a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that left three pedestrians injured.
