A new fire has broken out in the West Hills, here is the evacuation zone as incorrect alerts are issued by the city.

A fast-moving wildfire that broke out Thursday afternoon near West Hills, northwest of Los Angeles, on the border of L.A. and Ventura counties, has charred 960 acres and briefly forced mandatory evacuations.

At least five people are dead and many more injured as several fires broke out across Southern California amid historically dry and windy conditions.

The arrest occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Ybarra Road, just south of the fire’s origin, after local residents reportedly spotted the suspect attempting to ignite a blaze. The residents detained him until police arrived, with photos shared on the Citizen app showing officers surrounding the scene where the man was taken into custody.

An arson suspect was arrested Thursday night near the Kenneth Fire area as fire crews continue battling flames burning near homes in Calabasas and West Hills.
