The NHL head coaching carousel has been spinning since the middle of the season. On Nov. 19, the Bruins fired Jim Montgomery after an 8-9-3 start to the season. There were two more firings made before the end of the regular season,

Todd Nelson has won five different minor league championships as head coach in the last two decades. That includes back-to-back titles for the Washington Capitals' AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears, the past two seasons. He also aided the Dallas Stars to the Stanley Cup Final in 2020 as an assistant who heavily guided team tactics.

He is definitely available, having been fired by the Flyers late in the season. The fiery Tortorella coached the Rangers from 2008-13, and coached Drury with the Rangers. He’d make things uncomfortable for some guys who may be too comfortable right now.
