An update on Mike McCarthy's future with the Dallas Cowboys seems quite clearly like the work of team owner Jerry Jones — which is rarely a compliment.

The Dallas Cowboys may have very slim playoff hopes but that doesn't mean Jerry Jones wants them to lose their last four games. Jones isn't interested in tanking these last four games for a better draft pick.

Jones: “That was set back last night. That was a hard one. We’ll have to circle the wagons here and get out here and get ready to play Carolina, who gave Kansas City all that and more last week. So bottom line is that this is the life we’ve chosen.”
