Toss to combine. Press the hash browns onto the bottom and up the sides of the pan, pressing firmly so they stick together.
I tried the trick again to see if it would come out better using less hash-brown mix, but the pieces didn't stick together very well and it ended up being more like a pile of potatoes than a waffle.
When cooking the hash browns try not to disturb them in the pan. It's best to let them cook fully on the first side before turning. A non-stick pan really helps.
