Two senators wrote to the FDA Friday about the Hims Super Bowl ad, which they said misleads patients about compounded weight loss drugs.

The ad goes on to tout Hims & Hers' weight loss drugs as less expensive alternatives to medications like Ozempic and Wegovy, which both contain the active ingredient semaglutide and are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat Type 2 diabetes and obesity, respectively.

The spot “is a clear violation” of the FDCA, “which requires that advertising for prescription drugs — including compounded drugs — not be false or misleading,” contended Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), whose public affairs team invited reporters to “reach out if you have any questions.”
