‍ DALLAS — The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has urged the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to prohibit helicopter operations near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) when runways 15 and 33 are in use and to establish an alternative helicopter route.

The January midair collision with the Army helicopter happened as the American Airlines jet was about to land at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. All 67 people on both aircraft died.
