The Cleveland Browns have had a nightmare season at 3-10, and the path for things to improve isn’t clear, given the fact that the team still has a painful $72.9 million cap hit over each of the next two years for quarterback Deshaun Watson staring them in the face this offseason.

The Browns are giving Deshaun Watson a chance to come back and compete for the starting job in 2025, and it’s not just about the money. The money is certainly a big part of it, given that the Browns would trigger a $119 million cap charge in 2025 if they designate him a post-June 1 cut or trade.
