New York City emergency officials have issued a “Cold Weather Alert” amid a stretch of below-freezing wind chills that will only get colder into next week. The coldest air of the season so far will crash into the tri-state on starting early next week with “feels like” temperatures Tuesday dropping as low as -7 degrees.

After days of balmy weather City is slated to get hit with snow and then blasted by frigid cold by weekend’s end. Saturday morning started off cloudy and is set to turn soggy by the afternoon. Highs for the day are expected to peak around 45,

The New York City Emergency Management Department (NYCEM) has issued a winter weather alert for Sunday ahead of a storm set to bring two to five inches of snow accumulation to the area. Snowfall amounts could vary depending on the track of the storm;

New York City and the Tri-State area are gearing up for a significant winter storm followed by the coldest temperatures in 2 years. AccuWeather forecasts snow will arrive by midday on Sunday dropping 2-4 inches in the New York City metro area and 4-8 inches to the north and west.
