When taking the court inside Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill, the NFL legend — who was formally introduced as head coach of North Carolina’s football team Thursday — was showered with an “E-A-G-L-E-S” chant during a basketball game against La Salle, according to footage shared on social media.

Bill Belichick received a warm reception when he was introduced to the crowd at a University of North Carolina men’s basketball game, days after he was named as head coach of the school’s football team.

Bill Belichick was greeted with a loud roar from North Carolina fans when he stepped onto the court during halftime of the Tar Heels’ game against La Salle on Saturday.

With college teams now able to spend fortunes on players, the legendary coach is making the leap at a time when the game more closely resembles the NFL than ever before.
