New York’s offshore wind industry is under assault from the Trump administration
When President Donald Trump took office in January, he ordered the federal government to hit the brakes on all offshore wind permitting and leasing, putting thousands of megawatts of clean energy at risk in the tristate area.
With a new administration in Washington, 2025 has been a year of turbulence for the once promising offshore wind sector in New Jersey.
Last month, the administration revoked the Clean Air Permit for an offshore wind project off the coast of New Jersey, Atlantic Shores. Construction on that wind farm had not yet begun.
