Candanoza, who was killed in the line of duty, will lie in state on Monday.

Dozens of family members, friends and brothers and sisters in blue came out on Sunday night to remember fallen Terrell police officer Jacob Candanoza.

Officer Jacob Candanoza’s patrol vehicle has been parked outside the Terrell Police Department since Monday. It was turned into a temporary memorial following Candanoza being fatally shot after he pulled a man over for a traffic stop late Sunday.

Officer Jacob Andrew Candanoza would have made five months on the job Friday, but investigators said he was murdered in a traffic stop late Sunday night.

In a Facebook post, the Terrell Police Department said K-9 Officer Max was suffering from an illness and died over the weekend.

Officers were able to find and pursue the suspect vehicle using the license plate number and the suspect has been taken into custody, Terrell police said.
