Koziol confirmed his leaning during a conversation with Ball State offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Jared Elliott, whom he considers a mentor. Then, he informed Wisconsin coaches of his decision before returning home. He was ready to become a Badger and help push the offense into a new gear.

Koziol is the Badgers’ second transfer addition of the cycle, joining Louisville edge rusher Mason Reiger. Each is an accomplished veteran at a key position of need. Koziol specifically fills a void at tight end that the program has been working to fill since Jake Ferguson’s departure after the 2021 season.

Wisconsin added one of the top tight ends in the transfer portal Saturday, landing a commitment from former Ball State standout Tanner Koziol. The 6-foot-7, 237-pound junior ranks fourth in the FBS in receptions this season with 94 catches for 839 yards and eight touchdowns.
