Despite ongoing cleanup and restoration efforts following the Palisades Fire, a portion of the Pacific Coast Highway reopened Sunday to traffic. However, only one lane will be open in each direction from the Ventura County line through a checkpoint to be determined in and by the city of Los Angeles,

Pacific Coast Highway and the Pacific Palisades neighborhood are reopening to the public this weekend despite concerns from some local residents and officials who fear it’s too soon to allow wide access to the fire-damaged area.

With cleanup and restoration work still ongoing in the wake of the Palisades fire, all areas of Pacific Coast Highway will nonetheless reopen to essential traffic beginning Sunday, though with only one lane open in each direction — and with reduced speeds in effect,

The dispute continues over the timing of reopening Pacific Palisades to not only displaced residents, but also everyone.
