As popular as The Last of Us has become over the last decade, it's no secret that many Naughty Dog fans were disgruntled with the lack of new projects from the studio. That’s all changed though, as they revealed their new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which looks like a return to the studio's roots… sort of.

As I perused the many trailers that appeared at last night’s Game Awards, I had a fair few moments of, “Ooh, yes!” and “Oh wow, that looks fun!” but it wasn’t until the reveal for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet that I sat up and said,

The Heretic Prophet. Developed by Naughty Dog, Intergalactic is a futuristic space opera with the kind of futurepunk vibes that remind me of Cowboy Bebop. That comparison is apt as Intergalactic game director and Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann mentioned on the game’s website that it stars a space bounty hunter.

And now for something completely different. Naughty Dog is pivoting from post-apocalyptic fungal drama to interstellar sci-fi bounty hunting with its newest game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The studio revealed its new title with a cinematic trailer at The Game Awards on Thursday.
