Florida sued the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) director and an employee who was fired for telling a survivor assistance team after Hurricane Milton to not visit homes displaying signs supporting President-elect Trump’s candidacy.

On Nov. 8, 2024, an investigation from conservative news outlet The Daily Wire claimed that an official of the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) had instructed hurricane-response workers to avoid homes with signs supporting then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in their front yards.

The agency said it was investigating the incident in the aftermath of the Category 3 hurricane that hit Florida in October.
