On Friday the parent company of Stop & Shop, Ahold Delhaize, released a statement that said an investigation is being conducted after a recent cybersecurity issue within its U.S. network. Their security team along with outside cybersecurity experts are working to detect the issue and take steps to further protect their systems.

Kaitlyn Krasselt, a spokeswoman for the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection which regulates pharmacies in the state, said the agency was aware of delays in processing prescriptions at Stop & Shop pharmacies last Friday, but that the backlog has since been resolved.

Ahold Delhaize USA said it recently detected a cybersecurity issue within its US network. "Immediately upon detecting the issue, our security teams began an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts," the company said.

Two major grocery store chains with locations across Massachusetts have been the target of a cybersecurity attack.

The chain's grocery stores are short on certain products as the parent company deals with an undisclosed cybersecurity incident.

Stop & Shop supermarkets across Connecticut have bare shelves due to a cybersecurity issue. “A lot of the shelves were empty, a lot of staples too,” Hamden resident Michael Montefusco said. Shelf after shelf were bare causing customers like Montefusco to cut his grocery list short.
