Best beach in North West Mauritius - Can hire sun beds etc but sand is good, swimming is good and natural shade offered by the trees is a godsend Full review by JPR_101

Gorgeous beach, fine sand. Ignore the pop up shacks at the north end of the beach for food. Awful and over priced. Uncertain water quality when we visited. Full review by Tony P
can anyone reccomend a decent reliable but reasonably priced tour to be able to swim with dolphins and visit the Ill aux cerfs in one day trip?I have done research online but all seem excessively expensive.

There’s only one organisation that takes the wellfare of the animals seriously and that is Dolswim in La Preneuse. Forget about all the others.
We are currently staying in Mont Choisy and are wondering the cheapest way to get to other areas like grand baie and port Louis. Information such as buses and taxis would be welcomed.

We traveled by bus to Grand Baei for Rs. 24. Service is frequent.

Dear Patsy, My daughter and I stayed at the Tarisa and I would certainly say that the rooms are of a decent size well maintained clean and comfortable. House keeping is done daily and every thing worked. The staff are courteous attentive and aim to please. I think that this is a 3 star hotel and in our opinion certainly value for money as far as quality of accommodation and food are concerned. The beach is a 5 minute walk from the hotel which is a public beach but hotel guests can use the hotel's beach chairs & go kayaking .The water is clear and inviting but I did not really swim just wet my feet. The sea seems to be eroding the beachside which is sad. All things considered I would certainly recommend Tarisa. Take note that like most beach front hotels this hotel is not near a shopping centre etc. The nearest shopping area is a 6 to 10 minute uber ride away. There is a local bus but we did not use it. All the best . Enjoy your holiday. Suriakala
Hoping to go to the tarisa resort hotel in the middle of September will the weather be hot. Also the beach mixed reviews does the hotel have an aggreement with using the beach without having to pay for sun beds and parasoles and do you have to wear shoes when entering the water due to seaweed and coral which I do not like. Is the hotel worth going to, please give a true answer please

Hello, We went in October(CLOSER TO THE MAIN SEASON) and the whole week was rainy with temperature not exceeding 24C. The Choisy beach gets crowded in the weekends and is often littered. If you opt for just one location in Mauritius, you shall be happier in Mahebourg with Pointe d'Esny beach. The north is too crowded and hotel staff tends to be rude. The south is far more welcoming and another great place is Le Morne area. There is also golf course and it is close to the main attractions(Chamarel, park Vanille, park Casela, dolphin watching,etc.). For chilling at the beach, we definitely preferred the south. Have a great holiday. Paulina
