What a wonderful time we had with our grandsons on our ride to the North Pole! The boys were so excited to see Santa and ride the train. They both are huge train fans! Thank you for all you do for … Full review by Sabrina C

The trip from Hill City to Keystone took about 55 minutes; and as advertised, it was scenic. We went through forests and passed farms, and a recorded narrative explained what we were seeing and its s… Full review by phat_dawg_21
Do any of the cars have an outdoor vestibule at the back where you can go stand and take pictures? ( like the trains in Alaska have?)

Thank you for the interest in the 1880 Train. Our train does not have an open vestibule at the rear of the train. The closest approximation is choice of one of our open-air observation cars that are placed in service mid-June though to Labor Day in early September. These open-air observation cars feature a roof with no windows and wooden style seats. These cars make-up approximately 50% of the available seats in our summer-time line-up. The remainder of the seats in the summer and all of the seats in the spring and fall are in our nicely restored enclosed passenger cars which feature padded seats and windows which can be opened or closed by the passengers.
Hi! The shootout train is a round trip experience, correct? You do not get off in Keystone? Debating wether to do the shootout or regular train spending time in both towns! Thanks.

Our trip was in fall last year and it was the only one, round trip, of the day. Left Hill City and at stopped at Keystone, we only had enough time to get off the train to use the restrooms and get back on. The shootout train trip sounds interesting, but if you want to explore Hill City or Keystone, it's a short drive and you can also go to Wall, and wave at Mt. Rushmore and Custer City.

I am not aware of any. Metal stairs to get on the cars. However, once you are on some seats can be lifted up to provide more room. I don't know if that constitutes handicap seating or not. I do know one of the cars can use a lift to get on. Also, the rest of the buildings at the museum in Hill City and the restrooms at Keystone are handicap accessible. I think the best bet is to call and ask them.
