Your best odds for viewing are the sunrise. But the weather conditions change quickly. You just sort of have to wing it. Enjoy the adventure.

How long does it take to drive from theSummit park entrance to the final viewing point?

Allow 45 minutes. It is windy and in pitch darkness it is quite hair raising. Road is in peak condition. Just take your time. There are not many pull over points and if you do it’s risky.

We went up to see the sunset (I presume sunrise is colder). It was chilly and windy. Definitely bring something! My fleece was adequate.
