When we visited it was free. However they did state donations were accepted. There was a donation box at the beginning and end of the tour. There was no pressure to donate and I observe about 50% dropped something in the box.

There are a number of steps from the street below. There is a very small parking lot next to the building next door or you could go s drop off. The stairs inside the house to the second …

There are a number of steps from the street below. There is a very small parking lot next to the building next door or you could go s drop off. The stairs inside the house to the second floor are narrow and slightly steep. There may be an elevator as I have a vague memory of the area in the main floor foyer. Worth seeing!

Donations...but may as well be a charge as you could get some stink eye for not throwing anything in the pot.
