This is the most rewarding hike in the Phoenix area! The views from the top are worth the effort. However, word to the wise: put on some good shoes, it’s slippery in many parts if it rains. Also the… Full review by Claudia I

Visiting Phoenix for a few days in April to attend a wedding. I will be alone but want to do some hiking. What would be best trails, safe, and easily accessible from town via Uber?

I recommend Camelback if you are in Phoenix or Scottsdale (as opposed to North Scottsdale). Uber is a good choice for drop off & pick up for the Cholla trail. The assent and decent is a good workout & conisidered demanding. I did it in running shoes but I'd recommend hiking shoes/boots for support. The last ~20mins is more demanding up to the top from the helipad. I recommend planning on 3-3.25hrs from the Phoenician Hotel to the top & back. An UBER can drop you about 10minutes closer to the trail head. Remember water & sunscreen. Have fun!
Hi, I am a deaf guy from India. I know English. Would it be safe for me to trek Camelback mountain on my own? Are there markers to guide trekkers to the top and back? Can I expect any help from other trekkers/security guys, etc? I plan to trek this Tuesday.

There are PLENTY of markers and the trail is very well marked. About every 100 feet of elevation gain, there is a marker..... Additionally, this is a well traveled trail....so folks to follow. But aware, however, it is HOT in Arizona during summer. Plan to bring LOTS of water with you---more than just one small bottle! (I saw people carrying gallon jugs!
Hello, how long is the hike? If we only have 2-3 hours is it doable? Average hikers. Thanks!

If you go up and down from the Echo Canyon trailhead, you can definitely do it in 2-3 hours. If you do the whole length from Echo Canyon to Cholla trailhead or vice versa and have to get …
If you go up and down from the Echo Canyon trailhead, you can definitely do it in 2-3 hours. If you do the whole length from Echo Canyon to Cholla trailhead or vice versa and have to get an Uber or walk back to your car, maybe not.
What's the average temperature during Camelback hike in August?
A:
It depends on the time of day! It can be 114 degrees at 1 PM. Best to hike VERY early in the AM and bring more water than you think you need. Lately the average temp has been 104.
